SOLUTIONS: Population Reduction
(beta)
Consider the following charts:
World Population Levels Past 2,000 Years

Notice how the population curve dramatically starts to rise after 1700?
What was that due to?

(Charles Hall, Pradeep Tharakan, John Hallock, Wei Wu and Jae-Young Ko,
Advances in Energy Studies Conference, Porto Venere, Italy, September 2002)
That
little red spike represents the discovery of oil through to peak oil
and the end of the age of oil as seen across the epochs of human
history. Now let us look at what happens when we merge the above two
graphs into one:
One possible population scenario.

The
population of humans on the earth MIRRORS the INCREASE in OIL
(hydrocarbon) usage. As we used more oil the population went up.
What
do you think will logically be the outcome of oil depletion if no other
similar replacement energy source is discovered? Look at the blue curve
for the answer.
However, as in most systems, flow can travel BOTH DIRECTIONS.
If we DECREASE our POPULATION, it will in turn, DECREASE the SPEED at which oil is depleted.
At the time of writing this web page the US and WORLD populations were:
U.S. 296,065,380
World 6,440,175,628
